Da Vinci HD app good for
Gorgeous images that look great on the iPad, and is a wonderful history lesson into a great artist! One thing: the app is missing his inventions. If the developer adds Da Vincis inventions, this will be a perfect app!
When they say everything is here, it is! Everything!!
RAZOR SHARP images. To be able to look at image detail like this is second to none. Da Vinci is hard on a good day, they nailed this. I am a professional art guy. This is Really good! 5 bullet proof stars.
Correcting my earlier review, the app does include the Wikipedia viewer, just not for every entry.....now gets 5 stars
I love this app and would love to see another one for Van Gough.
He was one of the greatest, what more can you say? They did an outstanding on on this very polished app. You can clearly see the Mona Lisa in almost all of his paintings and drawings of women. The level of detail this app presents is incredible. Well worth it for anyone interested in this incredible artist.
A very good high res collection of this great master, but needs to be "complete" as the description says. Very good but no invention sketches.
One thing though that I would love to see in a future update, is a section devoted to his machine sketches such as his ornithopter and other visionary stuff. I was kind of hoping that would be there when I initially bought the app, but coding this stuff is demanding and the app is excellent from the get go... I am patient also.... Bravo to the educational developers of todays technology!
Some bad moments
To the developer: please correct the app. It is not working on IOS 8. It was not possible to get support from you.
This app has a sampling of Da Vincis works, but is by no means comprehensive, regardless of the developers description. Its a $.99 app, and its definitely not worth more than that. I would have paid quite a bit more for what this app says it is, but I guess for a buck I wont complain too much. And pretty much pictures only--theres no background or history, just titles of the works.
The collection is far from "complete". In fact, it is little more than a sampling of Da Vincis output. For the price, the app would have got a higher rating were it not for the misleading description. Also, the buyer should beware of what has come to be a convention of using the term "HD" to mean "native device resolution". The pictures are native iPad resolution, not more. For pictures of large canvases, thats actually pretty low res. No background info in the app, but some pictures do have links to wikipedia articles, which is a nice touch and a practical approach (assuming the wikipedia articles dont move, that is!)
Wheres all the pics, Im an artist and I know he was prolific in his works , so where are they......am I missing something or is his work now lost to us buying public users!
Just use safari and you can get for free what i just paid a dollar for.
If you like flipping through pics of Da Vincis works save them off e internet to your iPhoto album called Da Vincis works and you will get 95% of what this app gives ya. The different 5% is the opening menu of landscape pics with white font declaring the gallery title. My nephew can Photoshop up one of those for you for free, so dont waste your money if you arent desperate for an app to flip through pictures.
Many duplicate pics just zoomed in or slightly off color. Total waste of a dollar you can find better on google for free.
